Keira slept for three hours last night!!!! God, that's like getting a twelve hour snooze fest at this point... well not really, but you get the idea. Meryl gave us her moses bassinet, and we decided to keep that downstairs and move the higher, rocking bassinet upstairs. (The temptation of peering into the higher bassinet was just too much for Brody to resist, so for safety precautions, we made the switch.) After her initial wake-up at 230am, she ate then slept for an hour, ate then slept for an hour and a half, and so on until it was 630 and I was just done with the back and forth thing and woke up for good. I came downstairs, thankfully Nathan was leaving so he brought Brody down with him and I got Ty ready for school, and fed Keira and got her changed. Brody's arm made a miraculous recovery at 8 o'clock last night (seriously he went from not using his arm in the least bit to within a minute acting like nothing happened!) so I called the nurse right at 8am to find out if he still needed to be seen. We agreed that he didn't, but will watch for any signs it is hurting him and will go in next week if that is the case. I then took the half hour that I had to do a quick cleaning and use the time to get ready and get the kids ready sans rushing around the house. At 910am we got in the car and were off to Nate's school. It is so amazing having him in school now, but although I can't really complain, it is kind of a pain in the butt dropping him off, taking Brody and Keira in too (they are outside for pick up, so it is only dropping off, and again, I'd rather have him there than not.) I then took Brody to Dunkin Donuts for a special breakfast treat because I was so happy his arm was better. We came home and I fed Keira and cleaned some more, then put on Sesame Street (I am trying to get Brody interested in tv... go ahead and judge but he could use the distraction sometimes!) and snuggled with him. I fought off the sleepy feeling I got because I had an 1130 appointment with Nate's director of his preschool to do some additional paperwork. At 11, we headed back to the school and Brody was still refusing to sleep. We then came home quickly, fed Keira again, and then returned to pick Nate up. Brody of course picked that care ride to sleep. I can leave the kids in the car, because I am standing right outside of it when I pick Nate up, and Nate was very excited to bring home a special bag of books that they get every week (think library type weekly rentals) and then we headed home. Brody woke up as soon as the car pulled into the driveway and I got the kids snacks, opened a few birthday cards (thank you! I feel like a little kid getting cards in the mail... it just makes me happy. It's GOOD mail.) and now here I am, Keira still sleeping, Brody and Nate playing nicely, waiting for Ty to come home and also waiting for an email to let me know if Ty's first game is still on for 530 or if it will be cancelled due to rain. I am utterly exhausted right now, my hair is falling out of a ponytail I really didn't put effort into doing in the first place (Brody was trying to brush my hair earlier, and I gave up the fight to stop him.)
I have no idea what I am going to whip up for dinner, but I am pretty sure it will be fish and am pretty sure I will try and convince the kids it is chicken. If I say it is chicken, then at least they'll take a bite before whining that they don't want it and before I have to listen to Ty tease Nate that we killed his fish or are going to kill his fish and eat him too. And you wonder why I lean heavily towards being a vegetarian. Eat meat around the boys and you will too. I am anxiously awaiting going to bed VERY early (yes I will attempt to watch the Bruins and Red Sox first... I miraculously stayed awake for the Celtics last night ~ side note ~ Sorry Bulls fans but Miller INFURIATES me. He hustles for the ball but to a Boston fan he comes across like an arrogant you know what and like an overall cheap player... I know if you are a Bulls fan, you also have lots to say about Pierce setting traps etc, but seriously?!?! Miller just instigates WAY too much crap. I will always respect a good player, but I don't like watching that crap.. ahem, A-Rod-esque?
Back to point, since I don't have the opportunity to sleep in on my birthday tomorrow, I will compensate by going to bed early tonight. Nathan has to work all day tomorrow so I need to figure out how to entertain the boys for the day and will bribe them and guilt trip them all day with cake or cookies and a "there's no fighting or whining or complaining on my birthday" speech.
Pray for my survival.
