Yes, my baby turned ONE yesterday! It is hard to believe it has been a whole year already! (Although I say this every time a birthday for one of the kids rolls around.) I sang Happy Birthday to Brody all day long, and by the end of the day, I think he started to understand that it maybe had something to do with him, but who knows! Nathan's parents came over on their way to the airport to visit with Brody for his birthday and give him his presents. He loved them!!! He loved the boxes too. I made spice cake cupcakes with cream cheese frosting... I held off on giving him any cake all year. He loved the cupcake! At his birthday party, he'll get his very own cake, which I'm sure he'll dig into. We had lots of fun overall! It was a great first birthday, and we can't wait for his party tomorrow.
Other happenings? Sunday was "one of those days" I share this day only for the humor of others. The kids were, well, a bit off. They had had a busy day Saturday with the Children's Museum and then my mom took the older boys to see Madagascar 2. I made blueberry pancakes for them in the morning, and then decided to cut their hair. Ty was very frustrated with this, but went first to get it out of the way, and he went into the shower. Nate was next, and is always trickier because he has long hair, and because to get him to sit still is a feat in and of itself. We were doing okay with it though when Brody decided he no longer wanted to wear a diaper and started taking it off. I kept putting it on, but he kept taking it off. I was just about finished with Nate's hair when Brody took off the diaper for about the 5th time, squatted, whined and pooped... on my kitchen floor!!! RIGHT where I was cutting hair too, so gross to say, but I then had to clean up a hairy poop, rush Ty out of the shower, and get Brody and Nate in the bath. It was GREAT, let me tell you. That was just the beginning of that day. We did get a nice break when we celebrated two of my Aunts' birthdays, but the day never recovered fully.
Well as you all know by now, I had my ultrasound Monday. The baby looked great! The technician gave it about a 90% chance of being a girl. In her words"I've done this long enough to know there are no 100% guesses, but I CAN tell you there is no sign of a penis anywhere!" I will be having a few more ultrasounds, one on the 24th of November. I did get a call from my doctor's office on Tuesday, letting me know everything was perfect with the baby, but as of now the placenta is very low lying. What this means is it is within 2 centimeters of the cervix, which is not placenta previa, or even partial previa. It means I just have to be careful. In a lot of women as the uterus grows, the placenta will kind of grow upwards, and away from the cervix. That's the best case scenario, that's what we're hoping for. They will be keeping a close eye on it though, and I will go back to Boston for another big ultrasound to determine what is happening in the beginning of January.
Tuesday was Ty's football banquet at Prince in Saugus. It was a sea of 7, 8, and 9 year olds. Ty sat with his team, and the other E team and the kids enjoyed as much pizza as they could eat. (Ty had 7 slices... yikes!) The coach said some really nice things about all of the kids, and they all received really cool Wakefield Football sweatshirts, with their names on them. (Gifts from the coaches... I still think it's so amazing that these men who dedicate their time top themselves and personally buy personalized sweatshirts for all of their team.) Ty loves it, and of course wore it to school the next day and has nagged me to wear it every day since then.
That's really all the semi exciting stuff that's happened this week. I'll post pictures from Brody's party Saturday. Hope every one's doing well!!!
