This memorial day weekend was special for many reasons (see my previous post for the biggest!) we had an amazing time with friends and family and didn't stop for a second. My house currently is recovering as well as us.
Sunday we had a wonderful cookout with family in New Hampshire. Monday we took our first family beach trip of the year. It was a bit hazy due to the smoke in the air from the wild fires in Canada, but that didn't stop us.It wasn't crowded, which is such a nice surprise. We parked ourselves close to the water, but still on the soft sand, and were able to have a relaxing day. The kids were so well behaved, which is the greatest gift of all. We're a "only bring the necessities" family when it comes to the beach, because my kids are completely satisfied just playing in the water and digging holes to jump in. As a child my greatest joy at the beach was building the biggest, deepest, coolest hole on the beach. I proudly assist my own children with this task now, and then have the joy of resting on the blanket while their imaginations take over. It is a wonderful thing.
I was a little nervous about how Keira would do, seeing as this was her first trip not being an infant. She definitely takes after me though, and is a beach bum to the core. She quite literally rolled around in the sand shrieking with laughter.
Here are some of my favorite moments from this first beach trip of the year
Brody running away from the wavesThe kids playing so very well togetherKeira sneaking sips of my tea.. she's the only one of my kids that likes it unsweetened like me.Nate showing me his finds from his walk along the rocks with daddy.Ty spending almost the entire day playing football.Precious daddy daughter moments like theseSeeing this. Warms my heart. My babies who love the beach just as much as me.
